>> Phase Noise and Allan Deviation Test Sets
The 5115A Phase Noise and Allan Deviation Test Set directly samples
the RF inputs and performs all phase difference, phase noise, and Allan
deviation calculations numerically. It is self-configuring, self-calibrating,
requires no external phase-lock loop, and allows the oscillator under test
and reference to have different frequencies. No additional hardware is
required, digital, portable.

Symmetricom, Inc. was incorporated as Redcor Development Corporation
in 1956 and developed, manufactured and marketed a variety of electronic
products.
In 1977, Redcor merged with Silicon General and the combined
companies formed Silicon General, Inc.
In 1986, the company shipped
its first network synchronization product, which remains the primary focus
of the company today.
In 1993, the company changed its name to Symmetricom, Inc. Since
its inception, Symmetricom has focused on the design and manufacture
of electronic systems. The company acquired TrueTime,
Inc. and Datum, Inc. in 2002 and created its Timing,
Test and Measurement Division.
In 2005, Symmetricom acquired Agilent Technologies’ Frequency and
Time Standards product line.
Timing, Test and Measurement Division (TT&M) provides equipment
to generate and distribute precise time and frequency to a wide variety
of industries including IT networks, government laboratories, metrology
services and space, defense and avionics contractors.

Time synchronisation to the nearest millisecond using the NTP protocol.

A time server receives the exact time directly from cesium and rubidium atomic clocks located on GPS satellites and transmits it to the computers on a network. Thus it may be ensured that the clocks of all computers on a network always show the same time. In the event the GPS signal should be interrupted, a high-precision clock located on the server (a special quartz or rubidium oscillator) kicks in to provide the exact time.

IEEE 1588 Precise Time Protocol
(PTP), with nanosecond caliber time
transfer accuracy, provides a
significant improvement in
synchronization over Ethernet
networks. This technology offers
major cost savings in time distribution
since it can be deployed using
hardware clocks and standard
Ethernet LAN hubs, switches and
Cat 5 cables. The low overhead,
multicast protocol can use the same
LAN as normal network traffic.
